UNRI Celebrates Its 63rd Anniversary, FISIP UNRI Reinforces Its Commitment to Creating Continuous Impact for the Nation

Pekanbaru, 13 October 2025 — The 63rd Anniversary Celebration of Universitas Riau (UNRI) officially commenced with an Opening Ceremony held at the Student Center, Bina Widya Campus. Carrying the theme “63 Years of Universitas Riau: Impacting the Nation,” the event marked the beginning of a month-long series of academic, social, and cultural activities throughout October.

This year’s celebration served not only as a moment to reflect on UNRI’s long journey but also as a reaffirmation of the university’s role as an educational institution committed to sustainability, innovation, and meaningful societal contribution. Leaders, lecturers, staff, students, and invited guests from across the campus community gathered to share in the spirit of togetherness.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP UNRI) took part in the ceremony through the presence of its Dean, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., along with the faculty leadership team. Their attendance demonstrated FISIP’s commitment to supporting the university’s efforts in strengthening inter-unit collaboration and expanding institutional contributions to regional and national development.

The event opened with participant registration, followed by a traditional Tari Persembahan performance by Sanggar Seni Titah Negeri of FISIP UNRI. The dance, rooted in Malay cultural heritage, served as a gesture of respect and welcome to all attendees, adding a rich cultural atmosphere to the opening celebration.

In the event committee report, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Chair of the 63rd Anniversary Committee, Dr. Mexsasai Indra, S.H., M.H., emphasized that this year’s commemoration is expected to strengthen academic collaboration across the UNRI community in building an institution that is excellent and adaptive to change.

UNRI Rector, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., highlighted that unity and innovation are essential foundations for addressing future challenges in higher education. She encouraged all members of the academic community to continue playing strategic roles through education, research, and community engagement.

Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of the event. He noted that the anniversary is not merely a celebration but also an opportunity to reinforce partnerships among faculties, with the spirit of “Impacting the Nation” serving as a guiding principle for FISIP’s ongoing innovation and collaboration.

The ceremony was officially opened with the symbolic beating of the kompang by the Governor of Riau, H. Abdul Wahid, M.Si., together with university leaders. This act marked the beginning of the entire 63rd Anniversary agenda.

The celebration continued with the unveiling of the anniversary logo, the playing of the UNRI anthem (Mars UNRI), a video reflecting on the university’s 63-year history, and a recital of Malay poetry by Sanggar Seni BATRA FKIP, further enriching the cultural identity of the event.

As part of the program, a session on the implementation of digital graduation documents was presented by Farah Fitria Rahmayanti, Director of Digital Business at PERURI, moderated by Ibnu Daqiqil Id, S.Kom., M.T.I., Ph.D. This segment signaled UNRI’s progress toward more modern and efficient academic services.

The Opening Ceremony of UNRI’s 63rd Anniversary marked the beginning of a month-long celebration that integrates academic events, cultural showcases, and collaborative initiatives. The presence of FISIP UNRI’s leadership and community members reinforced the message that the faculty remains committed to supporting UNRI’s vision of becoming a university that is excellent, competitive, and impactful for the nation.
