FISIP UNRI Tabligh Akbar: Emulating the Prophet’s Leadership

Pekanbaru, Tuesday (September 9, 2025) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Riau held a Tabligh Akbar to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the Sutan Balia Auditorium, FISIP Universitas Riau, on Tuesday (09/09/2025).

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of students steering clear of three major transgressions that have become serious concerns: bullying, sexual violence, and intolerance. “FISIP students must set an example by avoiding these three major sins while also embodying the character and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” Dr. Meyzi remarked.

The program continued with a sermon delivered by Rinaldi Ilham, S.H., M.H., who spoke on the theme “Emulating the Attitude and Leadership of the Prophet Amidst the Crisis of Justice and Social Inequality.” He highlighted that the Prophet was a trustworthy (amanah) and truthful (tabligh) leader. “What we can learn from Prophet Muhammad is how he upheld integrity in leadership and in every matter, and how he consistently conveyed the truth. His way of leading and building a civilization must be implemented in our lives today,” Rinaldi explained.

The sermon also underscored the importance for Muslims to uphold the principle of common good (maslahah) regardless of background, in order to achieve shared prosperity.

This Tabligh Akbar was the result of FISIP UNRI’s institutional collaboration and was warmly attended by students, lecturers, and the wider academic community. Through this commemoration of the Prophet’s birthday, FISIP Universitas Riau hopes that the values of the Prophet’s leadership can inspire students in shaping their personal lives as well as their roles in society. More than just a ceremonial event, the program is expected to foster collective awareness to uphold justice, reject all forms of social inequality, and strengthen solidarity. By emulating the Prophet’s leadership, FISIP UNRI students are encouraged to become agents of change who bring light and benefit—not only within the campus but also to society at large and for the future of civilization.
