OJT of UPA TIK UNRI: Strengthening Digital Communication Skills at FISIP

Pekanbaru, 10 November 2025, The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), welcomed three On the Job Training (OJT) participants—Widya, Saffanah Qurrotaa, and Mazar—who will undertake practical training in public relations from the Information and Communication Technology Unit (UPA TIK UNRI). This activity is part of a collaborative program between the Vocational and Productivity Training Center and UNRI to enhance competencies in the field of Information and Communication Technology.

The OJT program runs for 20 working days, from 5 November to 2 December 2025. Prior to the training, participants received intensive preparation focused on producing visual content for social media.

During their OJT placement at FISIP UNRI, the participants will assist the Public Relations Team in various activities, including the creation and management of social media content (graphic design, short videos, and infographics), content planning and scheduling, as well as supporting the faculty’s digital communication strategies.

The OJT participants were officially welcomed by the Head of Public Relations at FISIP UNRI, Dr. Fajriani Ananda, S.Sos., M.Si, along with Public Relations staff member Hanggy Ardo, S.Kom. The program is supervised directly by mentor Ahmad Fauzan from TIK UNRI.

Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, stated that the program represents a strategic collaboration to strengthen human resource development within Universitas Riau.
“We are pleased to host OJT participants from UPA TIK. This program allows them to gain firsthand experience in how public communication and information management are carried out in a higher education environment. We hope this experience strengthens their skills in supporting the institution’s digital communication strategies,” he said.

Through this OJT program, participants are expected to gain practical experience in supporting faculty publications and documentation, while deepening their understanding of the role of information technology in enhancing public communication within FISIP UNRI.
