Department of Communication Science, FISIP Universitas Riau, Organizes RPS Development Workshop

Pekanbaru, May 13, 2026 — The Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau, held a Workshop on the Preparation of the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) for the Communication Science Curriculum at the Meeting Room of the FISIP Lecturer Building, Universitas Riau. The workshop featured the Chairman of ASPIKOM, Prof. Anang Sujoko, S.Sos., M.Si., D.Comm., as the keynote speaker and was attended by the Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., Vice Dean II for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., Secretary of the Department of Communication Science, Dr. Ringgo Eldapi Yozani, M.IKom., and lecturers from the Department of Communication Science, FISIP Universitas Riau.

The event began with opening remarks from the Chairperson of the Committee, Dr. Evawani Elsya Lubis, M.Si. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation and gratitude to all lecturers who attended the workshop. She explained that although the preparation of RPS documents has been conducted regularly, the rapid development of the times requires lecturers to continuously update and adjust the RPS used in the learning process. She also emphasized that the current RPS preparation needs to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU).

“The RPS will later be uploaded to the Satu UNRI system so that the learning process can be measured to determine whether it has achieved the expected objectives. Therefore, discussions are needed regarding how to prepare an appropriate RPS that can also facilitate lecturers in the teaching process,” she stated.

In line with this, the Secretary of the Department of Communication Science, FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Ringgo Eldapi Yozani, M.IKom., explained that the 2025 Curriculum of the Department of Communication Science had been officially approved by the Rector of Universitas Riau and has been implemented over the past two semesters. He noted several differences in the latest curriculum compared to the previous one, including changes in specialization tracks, which are now focused on two concentrations: Strategic Communication and Media & Journalism. According to him, these changes are part of the department’s strategy to increase student interest in journalism while adapting to the current developments in the field of communication. He also expressed hope that following this workshop, all subsequent processes, including the preparation and upload of the RPS to Satu UNRI, could be completed properly.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs of FISIP Universitas Riau, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A. In his remarks, he explained that the preparation of the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) is an essential part of implementing the 2025 Curriculum, which has been aligned with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education as well as input from various stakeholders, including ASPIKOM. He also expressed hope that the insights shared by Prof. Anang Sujoko, S.Sos., M.Si., D.Comm. would assist lecturers in preparing RPS documents that would serve as the primary guideline in the learning process.

“The purpose of preparing this RPS is to provide direction for the learning process. Hopefully, all required documents can be completed properly,” he stated.

As a form of appreciation to the speaker, the event continued with the presentation of souvenirs and certificates by the Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Auradian Marta, S.IP., M.A., together with the Vice Dean II for General Affairs and Finance, Dr. Mayarni, S.Sos., M.Si., accompanied by the Secretary of the Department of Communication Science, Dr. Ringgo Eldapi Yozani, M.IKom.

During the presentation session, Prof. Anang Sujoko, S.Sos., M.Si., D.Comm. discussed the preparation of RPS documents and emphasized the importance of well-planned learning design in supporting a directed and effective lecture process. He also explained that a well-structured RPS would help lecturers conduct the learning process more systematically and in accordance with the predetermined learning outcomes. The workshop concluded with a group photo session involving all participants and the speaker.

Through this workshop, it is expected that the preparation of the 2025 Curriculum RPS for the Department of Communication Science, FISIP Universitas Riau, can be carried out effectively and support an adaptive, well-directed learning process that aligns with current developments and the evolving dynamics of higher education.
