FISIP UNRI Reinforces Its Commitment to Building a Safe and Inclusive Campus through the Socialization of Permendikbudristek 55/2024

Pekanbaru, October 15, 2025, The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau (FISIP UNRI), participated in the Socialization of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation (Permendikbudristek) Number 55 of 2024 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Institutions. The event was organized by Universitas Riau at the Kampar Theater Room, Integrated Classroom Building, on Wednesday (15/10).

The agenda also included the signing of an Integrity Pact as a shared commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and violence-free campus environment, held in conjunction with the university’s 63rd Anniversary.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, SE., M.Si. In her remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of implementing Permendikbudristek Number 55 of 2024 as a concrete step toward fostering a safe, just, and human rights–respecting academic environment.

Dean of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Meyzi Heriyanto, S.Sos., M.Si, expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He highlighted that this socialization serves as a crucial moment to strengthen awareness among all academic members in preventing any form of violence on campus.
“FISIP UNRI is committed to continuously creating a safe learning environment that values diversity and upholds humanitarian principles. We fully support the implementation of this regulation across all academic and non-academic activities,” he stated.

The session featured Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H, Inspector General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), as the keynote speaker. She delivered an interactive presentation explaining the substance and urgency of the new regulation, moderated by Khairiyah Khadijah, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.

The event was attended enthusiastically by university leaders, deans, and academic communities from various faculties, including the leadership and staff of FISIP UNRI. Following an engaging Q&A session, the event continued with a token of appreciation, group photo session, and a formal closing by the master of ceremonies.

Through this initiative, Universitas Riau reaffirms its commitment to upholding human rights and justice in higher education settings, positioning itself as a model in implementing policies to prevent and address violence within the academic sphere.
